Tempo profiles
You are more than your CV. You know it, we know it. And companies need to know it too. There’s the old saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Nor should jobseekers be judged by a single piece of paper. At Tempo, via your candidate profile, you are provided with an array of tools to show employers what you have to offer and to ensure your personality really shines through. Below Elvire explains how she found a Tempo profile to be far more effective than A CV.

Bio
Your bio is your opportunity to introduce yourself to employers and set the scene for the rest of your profile to come. We recommend keeping bios fairly short and snappy - Between 3 and 5 sentences is usually a good balance between giving employers the key information about you and not scaring them off with a wall of text right away.
There is no set rule on what to say but some talking points we would suggest would be:
- What you've done up until now - Be it your last few jobs, what you studied at school or uni, or any extra-curricular activities you've been heavily involved in, giving employers a summary of this information is an ideal way to grab their attention and keep them reading on.
- What you're looking for next - As well as where you've been it's super important to tell future employers where you're going! If you've worked in retail roles for the last few years but are now looking for a career in marketing or if the main focus from your next role is working for a growing start-up, make sure you state that here!
- Why a company should hire you - It's important to remember that even this early on in looking at your profile, potential employers will already be trying to gauge if you are someone they should reach out to about the next step. With this in mind, it's vital to address why companies should hire you as early on as possible. The reason why you stand out could be your experience, the difference you made in your last role, your achievements at school or university, your transferrable skills, your personality, really anything that sets you apart from the competition.
Some final thoughts on the perfect bio:
- Spelling and grammar are key - This is true for your whole profile but especially the bio. Do not undermine all your hard work and talent with poor spelling and grammar. Proofread it, proofread it again and then ask someone else to proofread it for you! You know what, we're so passionate about this, that if you've not got someone else to ask, we will happily check it for you, just drop the Candidate Experience team an email!
